THE 'NEW' CHEM SHOW TO FEATURE 'SOLUTIONS FOCUS'

Industry Feedback Leads To Sustainable and Green Process Theme

WESTPORT, Connecticut...August 18, 2008 - In its ongoing quest to meet the changing needs of the evolving processing industries, the 53rd edition of the venerable CHEM SHOW, scheduled for November 17-19, 2009 at New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, will feature a more targeted focus on Sustainable and Green Process Solutions and add several new enhancements to address the needs of both exhibiting companies and buyers.

Based on extensive third-party research conducted with CPI professionals, it was discovered that an increasing number of decision makers (nearly 60%) are now coming to trade shows to find specific solutions to their processing challenges as opposed to just looking for new processing equipment. Moreover, they want to learn about these solutions in a variety of ways, both on and off the show floor.

With this in mind, show management has implemented several solution-focused features and re-branded North America's leading event 'The NEW CHEM SHOW - Processing Solutions for a Changing Marketplace.' In addition, the research study identified two challenges affecting the overall industry: 1) Global competition is driving the need for greater efficiency, and 2) Environmental concerns are pushing companies to be more sustainable and green in their operations. To address these industry issues, The NEW CHEM SHOW will promote "Sustainable and Green Process Operations" as the overall Show theme and concentrate on these core processing areas:

  • Process Controls and Automation Solutions - 67% of those surveyed currently use or will increase their usage of automation technologies.
  • Optimizing Process Efficiency - 57% use or will increase their usage of wireless technologies: 52% currently use or will increase their usage of energy efficient technologies.
  • Water/Wastewater Treatment - 51% of those surveyed currently use or will increase their usage of water/wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Emerging Technologies - CPI professionals said they want to be kept abreast of emerging technologies. For example, 45% of those surveyed currently use or will increase their usage of Nanotechnology.
  • Efficient Powder Processing - Cited by respondents, powder processing and bulk solids handling will require more efficient solutions to provide both safe operations and competitiveness in the global marketplace. In response to this valuable feedback, show management has planned significant solutions-focused changes and enhancements to the 2009 event that are designed to attract more buyers from all segments of the process industries who are interested in market-specific solutions. Some of these major enhancements will include:
  • Exhibitor Workshop Program - Dozens of workshops, featuring both educational value and product demonstrations, will be offered by leading industry experts on a variety of topics. Select exhibitors will have up to 30 minutes to present their latest technologies and discuss how they can be applied to specific solutions.
  • Buyer Connect Program - A web-based program designed to match buyer needs with specific product solutions in face-to-face meetings with the manufacturers. Close to 80% of survey respondents said meeting with suppliers was a major reason they attend shows.
  • New Products Showcase - A special area on the Show Floor where attendees can see what is truly new and innovative since the last Show. Seeing new products is still the number one reason attendees come to a show, but close to 60% said they wanted to see products they didn't yet know about.
  • Expanded Partner Support - With new market segments being added to the event, show management will work closely with the leading trade publications and associations within these new marketplaces to aggressively promote the Show to their members/readers on an ongoing basis leading up to the Show.
  • New Industry Portal - A new web-based NEW CHEM SHOW portal will serve as a leading information resource for the CPI industry. CPI professionals can find a wealth of information from trade magazine and association contributions from around the world.
To promote these exciting changes, The NEW CHEM SHOW will be marketed through a very aggressive, worldwide communications program featuring dozens of ads and news articles in leading trade magazines, thousands of direct mail brochures, an integrated digital marketing campaign, e-mail blasts and onsite distribution of flyers at global industry events. "Valuable industry input was critical in addressing a need for Sustainable and Green Process Solutions and The NEW CHEM SHOW will be the leading forum and information resource where processing professionals can find the technologies and solutions they need to stay at the cutting edge of a changing global marketplace," said Clay Stevens, President of International Exposition Company, which produces and manages The NEW CHEM SHOW.
